Greetings!
I've noticed that when deploying the Reader installer msi to Windows 7 machines via group policy that there is no message to inform the user that the install operation is taking place. Specifically, after the install policy is applied and the user reboots the machine, a message appears that is something like, "Please wait...", while Reader is being installed.
If possible, I would like to customize this message to be more descriptive like, "Installing Reader, please don't shut down the PC." However, if customization is not possible, I'd at least like to revert the displayed message back to that shown on Windows XP systems. Specifically, when deploying Reader to a Windows XP, the default install message is something like "<program name> is being installed, please wait".
I've run into a couple instances where Reader instalation over a VLAN takes over 10 minutes and so the user sees the "please wait" message and thinking that the PC is hung up forcibly reboots the machine thereby royally screwing up the Reader installation. I have to clean the registry in order to get the PC in a state where it will allow the Reader installation to proceed again--annoying.
So I'd like to know if there is a way to customize the MSI installation message for Windows 7 machines? If not, is there a way to revert the message displayed back to the Windows XP format?
Thank you for your help.
