Subrato, the two REINSTALL flags were what was missing, even though the doc linked in the post above yours points that methodology out as being only applicable to 8x and 9x versions. I've been working on transitioniong away from deploying via GPO to a third-party tool that has a little more control and importantly has success/fail feedback to make things easier for my replacement, and this is the first time I've run into an issue patching Reader using it. Maybe it's just the larger version jumps that require it, but at any rate thanks a bundle. And yes, for the record, the method for creating the AIP is what I've always used, I make a fresh one each time and only roll the required msps in. This was just a "gotcha" from going away from GPO I think.
