Copy the examples from http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/cmdline.h tml#command-line-examples so that you don't have to try random cmd lines. For example, quotes are only used around property params.
Enable logging, and if you still have problems, post you cmd line and log.
