Re: C++ not installing when I install Acrobat DC

I'm trying to create 2 installations; one for our Office 32bit and an install for our 64bit Office installation. I have the install for the 32bit set to ignore the C++ but I need to make sure it has the C++ does install on the 64bit.

Now that you were able to get it installed odes it resolve the need to enter a license after the install and prevent your users from having to log in with an Adobe ID?

Adobe Acrobat DC FeatureLockdown does not work (Outlook Plugin and Sharepoint)

$

I have to deploy Adobe Acrobat DC in our enterprise and facing an issue with the feature lockdown.

I set the registry keys HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureLockDown

- \cCloud --> bAdobeSendPluginToggle DWORD 0

- \cSharePoint --> bDisableSharePointFeatures DWORD 1

But I still have the "Add Account" option to add a SharePoint account as well as the "My Account" icon in Outlook and the "Send & Track" option.

Disabling Sharepoint works for Adobe Reader DC, but not for Adobe Acrobat DC.

Is there another possibility to disable those features, for example using the customization wizard?

The registry keys were added by an AutoIT script after the setup finished.

Thanks in advance.

Re: acrodist.exe starting on its own and continuously hogging 1 cpu core

We have determined when acrodist.exe is chugging away it is trying to read the path defined in (Default) string under:

HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Distiller\AdobePDFSettings\

this string contains the following local path:

C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings

but for some reason it is failing to read the C:\ProgramData\... path. In our environment it was because of our 3rd party user profile virtualisation solution called AppSense Environment Manager. Stopping AppSense EM from managing acrodist.exe personalisation has seemingly resolved the issue.

Furthermore, I just wanted to add, this only affected users who had launched Acrobat Distiller from the Start Menu at least once previously, this action added the registry location into their profile that AppSense EM was failing to read. If they have never launched the Distiller tool then they wont have a problem even if they use Acrobat everyday. Most users we found will only go into Acrobat, only the more advanced power users will open Distiller, so this is why it didn't affect all computers.

Re: How to update or patch Adobe Reader DC without local admin rights

Adobe provides perfect solutions for enterprise deployment. If you deploy software like Adobe Reader in an environment with 100's or 1000's of users without disabling the automated update feature you should think about your software deployment strategy or it is a lack of knowledge.

The provided updates may be security relavant, espacially for Flash Player. Even if there would be a way to install updates without administrative rights, how would you control that users are installing it and not skipping it forever?

So the strategy is disabling automated updates, which is supported in all Adobe products I have to work with and deploy the updates in your environment using SCCM or something.

So the correct registry key is HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\2015\FeatureLockDown

I just noticed the second one, didn't see it before so I guessed DC is the correct one.

I have reviewed the enterprise deployment guide, however the process is not working. I am constantly getting errors that acroext.exe isn't in the cab file. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Customization Wizard DC

Hi,

i have problems with the customization wizard DC. I try to deploy Adobe Acrobat Reader 2015 and Acrobat 2015 Pro (both classic track -> thatswhy 2015 is right, or?).

Because i did not find an CW for 2015 I used DC instead... maybe thats the problem - i dont know...

I try to set Security -> Protected View -> Files from potentially unsafe locations but i did not work neither with Reader nor Pro version, its always "off" after installation and opening the application as default user. Was not a problem when we customized version 11 with the CW for 11.

Because it was a recommendation i already uninstalled CW for 11 and try to edit/add some registry settings manually or with the CW is not the way it should be.

Anybody got a clue on that?

Thanks Sascha

We are using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI, Windows 7 with IE 9. Security?

We are using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI, Windows 7 with IE 9. When we attempt to open a .pdf file we are prompted to "Save", "Save As" or "Open". Is there a way to eliminate this prompt? It does not seem to matter whether we are openning through IE of directly from Adobe. We are attempting to view images from a web based application.

Hi Guys!

Urgently need your kind advice on how to extract/transfer the license key of Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard to other Notebook?

I'd changed my notebook and urgently need to reinstall Acrobat 8 Standard at new notebook.

Having an issue whereby I could not retrieve the license key (Enterprise Software).

All your kind advice upon this is highly-appreciated.

Do I have the wrong Acrobat.tlb file?

I am trying to connect to Acrobat XI (11.0.11) from Outlook 2007 to extract some contents, but wasn’t able to instantiate the Acrobat application.  I referenced the Acrobat.tlb file, which is shown as “Adobe Acrobat 10.0 Library”.  I suspect this is my problem.  Shouldn’t it say “… 11.0 Library”?

When I tried to instantiate to Acrobat application, I get this error:

“There was an error opening this document.  This file cannot be found.”

I'd appreciate any help resolving this problem.  Thanks.

What is the error?  Do you have  a verbose installation log?  Are you attempting to update an AIP deployment?

Re: Customization Wizard DC

How are you executing the installation?  Is it via the Setup.exe or the MSI file?  Which command line are you using with either installation execution method?

Error 1334. The file 'acroext.exe' cannon be installed because the file cannot be found in the cabinet file 'Data1.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.

I am doing an AIP deployment.

Hi Steve,

it will be installed/executed via setup.exe (same as here before with Adobe Acrobat/Reader 11). Crosschecked with "msiexec /i acropro.msi TRANSFORMS=AcroRead.mst /norestart /qn" -> also not functioning.

in my opinion this regkey is missing -> sample for Acrobat 2015

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\2015\FeatureLockdown]

"iProtectedView"=dword:00000001

If I add that manually - its working fine -> "Files from potentially unsafe locations" is marked and greyed out -> so no one can change it

The version of ACW which I am using: CustWiz1500720033_en_US_DC.exe  ---     this is my app version: Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2015.006.30033

Maybe the same problem exists for Adobe Acrobat Reader DC/2015.

Regards Sascha

I can't replicate this issue.  Can you share your MST file, sans the serial number, on a shared location?
