Hi Annville21,

If you are experiencing this problem with Acrobat XI volume license, i would suggest contacting support.

I am sending you an email id via private message drop us an email with the Issue description and serial number you were using.

If you are experiencing this problem with Acrobat DC then steps would be different.

Reinstall/Update Acrobrat Reader DC

Hello,

I'm a Systems Administrator for a managed environment.  My predecessor deployed Acrobat Reader DC without using the Customization Tool and thus we get prompted for updates and file associations are not correct.  I have downloaded the latest version and used the Customization Wizard to set those items correctly and tested the deployment but it does not revert those settings, it just updates the version.

Is there any way to fully update or reinstall with the new settings?

Thanks!

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC - Crash on launch

DOWNLOADED FILE:  AcroRdrDC1502020039_en_US.exe

OPERATING SYSTEM:  Windows 10 Enterprise (amd64), Windows 8.1 Enterprise (amd64), Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (amd64)

The installer includes both the primary MSI (acroread.msi, version 15.007.20033) as well as an update MSI (acrordrdcupd1502020039.msp, version 15.020.20039), which install without error or issue. However, following the install, any attempt to launch Reader results in an error and prevents Reader from launching. The error text in question is...

Faulting application name: AcroRd32.exe, version 15.7.20033.2203, time stamp: 0x5507d7da

Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x00a77b54

Faulting process id: 0x38c

Faulting application start time: 0x01d254a00b91a4f1

Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\AcroRd32.exe

Faulting module path: unknown

Report Id: 4970351d-c093-11e6-b90c-005056b6541f

If I decompress the aforementioned downloaded EXE and install the aforementioned MSI without updating with the aforementioned MSP, Reader appears to function without error or issue. Decompressed files look like this...

abcpy.ini

AcroRdrDCUpd1502020039.msp

AcroRead.msi

Data1.cab

setup.exe

setup.ini

Please advise.

Thanx.

Hi Acjuelich,

Ideally, after installing Reader DC should take the precedence of previous settings.

Unless there are some other customizations set on user profiles. Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs  and then restart the machine. Try installing Reader Dc and let us know if that makes a difference.

Also, let me know the steps you have already taken to resolve this issue?

Regards,
Tariq Dar.

I could look at the AcroCleaner but that wouldn't work very well in an environment with deployments from Microsoft SCCM.

I've tested on a few machines and the new install does not overwrite some of the previous settings.  My guess is that it sees the base DC v15 MSI and then just applies the MSP.

If the product has been installed without customizations (e.g. turning off the Updates) then the installation will refer to those settings in the MST from the initial installation.  If you want to get an installation that will reference new settings then you need to uninstall the previous installation,  and then reinstall the new installation with your new customizations.  If that is not what you are seeing then that would be an anomaly.

What exactly are you looking to do?  Once we have those items then we can give you an idea if it's possible.

You can use JavaScript to hide the menu item.

The JS script would look like this:

app.hideMenuItem("OnlineSupport");

The file would be placed here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\Javascripts

If you are deploying this file with your installation you could use the Adobe Customization Wizard DC's File panel to place it there and then it will embed the JS file when ever the customized installer is used.

We would like to create a personal Appearance for every co-worker in our Company. Actually every worker must create themselves.

We ask you if is there any option to create this in our IT Department with a script or something like that for every user.

Thanks a lot

Hi,

I have an enterprise license key for Acrobat 9 when I install the software on my new computer it's telling me that the key is invalid.  So I went ahead and chatted support who sent me to the forums.  Has anyone else had this difficulty using their key?

TY!

I only have the disc and sadly my new PC does not have a DVD-R like my old one.

find a computer with a disc drive and copy the disc files to a usb drive.  move the usb drive to your new computer and install from the usb.

Yes, and No.  Let me explain that answer now...

Yes,  you can create all or the items before hand except the title and the imported graphic selection.

So if yo want to configure the Text options and Text Properties that is possible to create an generic appearance.acrodata folder and the put it in the Adobe Customization Wizard DC's File panel for the CommonAppDataFolder with the following path:

\CommonAppDataFolder\Adobe\Acrobat\[PRODUCT VERSION]\Security\

Please note, that the last three folders are created within the Files panel.

The signature graphic is something that the user could add later if that was necessary.
