Re: Supress EULA for Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2019 - Macintosh

Thanks for the link!  I've downloaded the Acrobat Customization Wizard DC, and I am getting the following error when I click OK:

Screen Shot 2019-07-22 at 11.53.31 AM.png

Researching this error came up with the following discussion:

customisation wizard - invalid installer package

In this discussion it was mentioned by an Adobe employee that the Adobe Customization Wizard DC for Mac "does not consume Adobe Reader DC packages for customizing."  Could this perhaps still be the case?  I have the latest Acrobat Reader Mac installer (2019.012.20034) and Acrobat Customization Wizard DC (17.009.20044).  Is there something I am missing here?

Thanks,

John

Multitasking is apparently hurting my batting average here: I should have been specific and stated that the Wizard can only customize Acrobat, not Reader--that's in the docs (and I thought the Wizard UI but perhaps not).

Anyway, the APTEE tool works for Reader. See:

Thank you for the links.  I've tried getting APTEE to work, just not having very good luck.  I've tried the following command:

sudo ./adobe_prtk --tool=EULA --leid=V7{}AcrobatCont-12-Mac-GM --eulasuppress

I'm not sure if this command is supposed to set the EULA or if it is supposed to create a prov.xml file, but the EULA still comes up on Adobe Reader and a prov.xml is not created.   Or maybe the leid isn't correct?  I did come across this guide:

Appendix A: Identifying Installs — DC Deployment Planning and Configuration

With this link, there were a whole bunch of leids for different flavors of Adobe Acrobat, but nothing for reader.

There has to be a better way of accepting the EULA.

Thank you,

John

Is the ARM service useful in an enterprise?

Hello all.

On our network, updates for both µsoft and Adobe products are supervised by the Microsoft Patch Management infrastructure. When necessary, the Adobe catalog is imported in SCUP, in order to use the Patch Management for our workstations.

In such an environment, is the ARM service necessary, or can it be disabled by default on our workstations? (Adobe Reader DC and Flash player are the default products used)

Are the schedule tasks : "Adobe Acrobat Update Task", "Adobe Flash Player NPAPI Notifier" and "Adobe Flash Player Updater" necessary in our environment?

Thanks in advance for your and your experience.

Chris.

To comment my own post, i need to add that Windows Patch Management = Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).

And the service is more or less already "disabled"

Can't we just safely clean it and get rid of all that pollution?

Will iProtectedView=2 allow cTrustedFolders?

$

In my environment (Windows Domain, Windows 10 clients) Acrobat Reader is hardened to the max, settings are applied via GPO

Protected View=2, JavaScript disabled etc.

We do receive PDF files with include JavaScripts and are a kind of automated forms.

Some of these our users need to handle, disregarding the hardening.

While reading I assumed I needed to add the TrustManager key, and then  below the cTrustedFolders.

Now, while still reading, it became more foggy, should I just add f.i. a string named T3 with value \\sharelocation\sharename\folder, or should I add first a key like cAlwaysTrustedForJavaScripts, and in there a string named T3 etc.??? I tried all of these, including to do this at HKCU, HKLM ( and then, Software\Adobe, or Software\Policies\Adobe or adding WOW6432node... enough choices). But none of these work.

Yes when I change iProtectedView to 1, things work, but none of the TrustManager keys will be used then.

I also tried to add cTrustedFolders with a string, and the variant with cAlwaysTrustedForJavaScripts and a string to FeatureLockDown, also does not work.

The main question, does iProtectedView=2 work correct with any PL setup via cTrustedFolders, or not.

Installing AcrobatDC (and others Adobe apps) via SCCM. Deployent question.

We have a large number of machines in our organization that have Creative Cloud and Acrobat DC, but their copy of Acrobat DC is a few versions behind.  I want to push out an install of the most recent version via SCCM and I seem to be having trouble getting it to work properly.

I created a package on the Adobe Admin Console, it contains Adobe CC and Acrobat DC only.  The folder is on our SCCM server and I created a package that looks in the fodler where the setup.exe resides and runs "setup.exe --silent"  I've also tried "Setup.exe --mode=silent"  and it always fails to run.  It is downloading the data to the ccmcache folder, but is unable to run.   I even tried running JUST the acropro.msi by itself and also no dice.

Any suggestions?

We have a current deployment of CC that seems to work fine using  "Set-up.exe" --mode=silent

Thanks in advance.

UPDATE!

What I have discovered is that, when I create a package through the admin console and download it, if I try to run it locally and not in silent mode it will  immediately return an error:

and will not install.  If I check the PDApp.log, the following is shown:

This particular package is just Adobe CC and Acrobat DC.  I have two others, one that is AdobeCC and Photoshop and one that is  AdobeCC and InDesign.   Both of those seems to work (although for InDesign the installer keeps going for what seems like an excessive amount of time before closing the window.  Even though the software has been installed for several minutes.).

I only get this particular error through the package with Acrobat. Tried with both 32 bit and 64 bit versions.

I have tried re-making it and re-downloading, but it makes no difference.

Steve,

How are you?  I was wondering where it is documented that removing the pre-flight p12 file violates the EULA.    As far as I can tell, our organization does not have the plug-in installed and the file is only present in the windows installation folder.

Thanks,

extremely slow spooling / printing / how to centrally change settings

Hello,

We are having the issue where spooling and printing is running excruciatingly slow. So far these steps seem to resolve the issue. How would I go about centrally changing the settings across the enterprise? We are using BMC Client Management so it should be possible to deploy out a rule to change the keys in the registry for the desktop or user. I just don't know which ones this impacts.

Adobe PDF slow to print

If Adobe Acrobat Reader prints slowly try the following:

  • Open a PDF file.
  • From the menu, select File > Print.
  • From the dialog displayed, click on the Advanced button at the bottom.
  • On the Advanced Print Setup dialog, make sure that “Let printer determine colors” is CHECKED.
  • Click OK and OK to print the document.

Thank You!

digitally sign document already signed

Hey guys,

I've received a signed contract document from the client as the pdf. It's signed with a digital certificate on Adobe Pro. I also have the Adobe Pro, but I'm not able to sign from my end - also using digital sign / certificate option with Adobe Pro - the option is simply disable, I don't know what to do.

You can't change a signed document.

How would your organization have Acrobat Pro installed without the preflight plug-in? How are you telling that you don't have it installed?

Bernd, is correct.  Once the document is signed, it cannot be changed. Therefore it is imperative that the person who sends a document requiring two signatures must provide two signature fields created for the form to be signed by the signatories.

Problem mit der Exportdatei als JPG aus PDF Acrobat DC

Hallo liebes Forum,

Matthias

Where can I find Acrobat DC patches

Good afternoon,

I'm currently unable to find the url for the Adobe DC patches so I can deploy them via GPO. Just trying to find the page where they are in windows installer packages.

Could anyone please redirect me to the correct page. I have the license agreement to distribute but nothing is pulling up with the urls I was sent.

Can't register all Acrobat installs at website, and some installs require site login, and other mysteries

Over the past 4 years, I've bought 16 Acrobat licenses through TechSoup. I have a single Adobe login and I've only been able to register 4 serial numbers through it. When I try to register more, it tells me, "An error appeared while registering your product". Plus, some users get a popup when using it telling them to sign into the registration website and when they do, they can use Acrobat, even though it's not registered there. How do I fix this?
