Re: How to make Adobe acrobat feature to convert SAP Pages to PDF available for multiple users connected to the same Citrix server

1. What is the Acrobat feature that you mean? There's nothing specific to SAP included with Acrobat.

2. Yes, some Terminal Server configurations appear supported (check carefully). All users of the terminal server will need a license, so far as I know - total licenses = total individual people using.

Additional information that may help in the diagnosis, effectively the workflow process tried by us leads us to the current situation.

Adobe CC Launcher installed on an IT Support workstation (workstation 1), user logged on with Administrator rights, a package containing only Acrobat Prop X1 was built and copied up to a network share. Installation of Acrobat Pro X1 was tried on another Windows 7 64bit workstation, again with a user logged on with Admin rights, the install made it about half way through and the installer vanished at the point where the scroll bar had got about half way, no error messages were presented, it appeared that the green installation progress scroll bar seemed to roll back.

Another copy of the CC Launcher was installed on another workstation (workstation 2) in the IT Office to circumvent any issues that the initial CC Launcher installation may have been corrupted on workstation 1, Acrobat Pro X1 was then built and copied to another network share, installation attempted on another station and again this install failed with the same was above

In both cases an installation was tried using both the msi and the setup.exe

A 32 bit version of the package was then built using workstation 1, this installation was copied to a network share and the installation attempted on 4 different machines, all Windows 7 64 bit, using both the msi and setup.exe installation routines, all failed.

An attempt was made off-site on a workstation, user logged on with admin rights connected to a standard broadband link in attempt alleviate any possible issues with proxies and firewalls and 64bit version was built using CC Launcher, the package was built to the local hard drive, and the installation attempted using both the msi and setup.exe routines from this local installation, both failed in the same way as the initial installation failed in the first paragraph, little or no feddback from the installer apart from the process bar rolling back from about half way along.

In summary:

We have tried both 32 bit versions and 64 bit versions of the built package, attempted to install these 2 build Acrobat Pro X1 packages from network shares and local hard drives, on a variety of machines from standard domain workstations to netbooks to a high spec station, around 6 machines in total. Packages have been built by 3 separate machines and we beliveve we have tried every permutation possible, a total of 3 man days have been spent trying to find some way to get this to work.

The log files can be provided for forensic purposes but seem to provide no clue as to why the installation should fail, (I will avoid using the word catastrophically here so that the focus of peoples attention can be directed towards the resolution of the problem with no distractions)

All other CC apps, when built by the same CC Launcher on the same machines (workstation 1 and workstation2 ) and copied to the same network share, install with no problems at all, msi's install fine through AD GP's and setup.exe works for individual installations.

Adobe Acrobat does not launch anymore after update to 11.0.9

After updating our clients from Adobe Acrobat 11.0.8 to Adobe Acrobat 11.0.9, we are experience the following issue:

- Mouse cursor flickers, focus is being 'stealed' from active window approx. every 1s.

- Acobrat.exe shows up in task manager, immediately exits again and is being restarted constantly.

- Windows event log has no entries regarding application crashes.

- Various files such as "amt3.log", "oobelib.log" and many instances of "pdapp*.log" appear in user's temp directory.

- No *.swidtag file exists for Adobe Acrobat Pro XI in "C:\ProgramData\regid.1986-12.com.adobe" (is this normal behavior for this product?)

- amt3.log logs the following line: "AMT: Licensing has been refused.  Application must exit."

These symptoms usually appear approx 1 day after the product has been upgraded. Immediately after the update the application launched successfully.

Adobe Acrobat 11 has been customized using "Adobe Customization Wizard 11" and internally deployed using our internal software distribution.

We're using this approach since years now and never had an issue until 11.0.9.

I applied the acrofix.exe from Doesn't launch after 30 days | Installed as part of a CS6 suite to my computer (return code 7). Afterwards, Adobe.exe sometimes did not restart endlessly (does not steal focus) but still does not launch. Reinstalling Adobe Acrobat does not resolve the problem.

According to the logs and activity seen with procmon I suspect an activation/licensing issue. We're running a volume license, our customer id is 53580937.

The contract just has been renewed.

Could someone from Adobe please check our licensing status or whether the serial numbers have been changed?

The issue is somewhat urgent as we cannot deploy 11.0.9 to our users to fix the security issues.

Any help is appreciated.

Best regards,

Nik

We can also provide copies of these built Acrobat Pro X1 packages Created by CCP Launcher that fail to install, if required.

We have the PDApp.log file available

However we seem to be unable to insert the text into a reply box on this forum as there seems to be a limit to the amount of text that can be inserted, possibly due to the limitations of the form backend..?

We have also attempted to attached the log file as file with a .log extension this also failed, the file was renamed so that it had a .jpg extension as a workaround as it seems the only options are to attach files that are photo or video based, this attempt also failed it would seem we have no provision for providing you the information.

Despite all the window dressing, CCP just creates a separate licensing installer for Acrobat because it is an Exception installation for the Creative Cloud just like it was for the Creative Suite.  The Acrobat package should have two files in the Exceptions folder.  Run actual Acrobat MSI file (AcroPro.msi) first from the command line and then run the CCP's MSI licensing file ([THE_NAME_OF_YOUR_CCP_PACKAGE].msi).  That should be all you have to do.  This is documented in the ETK:  18   Creative Suite Installs and Issues — Enterprise Administration Guide

Have a look at section 18.1.4.  It references Acrobat 10 but it should work for Acrobat 11 too.

If you want to post the licensing log files for CCP then use this link to gather them:  Log Collector Tool

Otherwise get the MSI installer logs just like you would any other MSI package.  You can enable the verbose logging via this handy Microsoft FixIt KB:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2545723

How was the product installed?  Is there any error?  Does AAM (Adobe Application Manager ) pop up momentarily?

If you place the appropriate client EULA setting in the USER profile preferences file does that resolve the issue?

The location should be:  /Users/[USERNAME]/Library/Preferences

The Acrobat team is aware that there is an issue with the EULA on Mac in some environments. Investigations continue.

Do you have more than one user on a machine?

Hi Sabian,

The product has been installed by calling msiexec. The msi itself has been customized by a transform created using Adobe Customization Wizard 11.

The installation itself runs fine and without errors. When the user tries to launch Adobe Acrobat he gets the effect as listed in my description above.

There are no error messages / windows visible at that stage.

What was interesting: Once I manually reserialized Acrobat using "adobe_prtk --tool=Serialize --leid=V6{}AcrobatPro-AS2-Win-GM --serial=<SN> --regsuppress=ss"

I once received an activation error one day later, then clicked "try again" and since then I have no further prompts and the error's gone. However, that's something I cannot tell our hundreds of users...

I'm currently working with Adobe Support on this, case# is 185947963.

I think I now have found a workaround to my issue:

I saw that AMT is detecting the product language as en_GB instead of en_US so I played with the ACW11 settings.
I recreated the MSI/MST using ACW11 and changed the following options:

Serial Number -> “Grant Offline Exception”
Installation options\Set the language to the OS language, but let the user… -> deactivated

Maybe I'm just masking the root cause of the error this way but at least it works. After several starts of Adobe Acrobat, the product now properly goes from serialized to activated state.
At that point I also get a swid.tag file in “C:\ProgramData\regid.1986-12.com.adobe\”

amt3.log in user's temp then has the following entries:

...

AMT: AMT: Product License Validated.

...
AMT: Application licensing status has changed to activated.

...
AMT: Prevalidate indicates license is good and no UI required.

...

...

regards,

Nik

I was able to resolve the issue by applying the following preferences to all user accounts (our deployment toolkit allows us to do this for new users and cached profiles):

/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/11.0/

   Exchange-ProMessages

   SharedDataEvents

   UserCache.bin

/Users/username/Library/Preferences/

   com.adobe.acrobat.pro.plist

   com.apple.LaunchServices.plist

/Users/username/Library/Preferences/Adobe/

   .30142FB7F3A2

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLCache/QUNDRVNTX0NIRUNL.slc

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore/.230E4A0DF1DC

These user profile settings along with the plist files in the /Library/Preferences/Adobe/ folder have resolved our issue.

Adobe Reader 11.0.09

$

0

Background:

  • Installing on about 500-900 PCs and Laptops Windows XP and Windows 7 (I'm aware 11.0.09 isn't supported on XP so I have a separate 11.0.08 package for the XP users)
  • Using SCCM 2007, NOT using SCUP
  • Pretty much followed this guide (My Tech Stuff: Deploy Adobe Acrobat Reader XI (11.0.03) Using SCCM 2012 SP1)
  • Machines are running either 11.0.04 or 10.1.4, I'd like to do one package to bring everyone up to 11.0.09 (aside from XP). For simplicity sake we can pretend everyone is on 11.0.04.

I'm having an issue deploying 11.0.09 through SCCM 2007. I'm not using SCUP, nor do I really want to. I've created the package numerous different ways and I seem to have the best result with the AIP method. I downloaded the EXE file which is the default distribution format. I extracted it and then ran the Admin install using the msiexec /a switch. I copied the contents from the AIP folder and pasted them into the 11.0.09 Share on SCCM. I also copied a MST transform file that was used with 11.0.04 to that folder as well. The package in sccm runs like this: msiexec.exe /i AcroRead.msi TRANSFORMS="AcroRead.mst" /qn /L*V C:\adobe_reader_11009.log.

SCCM's Run Advertised Programs shows that it fails but the log seems to indicate that it worked. However when I open Reader it is only version 11.0.04 (379 technically). So it appears the patch never gets installed.

Here is the command I run to create the AIP install:

C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Setup\{AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-AB0000000001}>msiexec /a AcroRead.msi /p "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Setup\{AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-AB0000000001}\AdbeRdrUpd11009.msp"

The above path is where the EXE extracts to by default.

Any ideas?

Still no answer on this?    We have the same problem on all our computers.  Seem that after installing 11.08 update, something isn't updated because the 11.09 patch thinks it is still 11.07.   (yes, going to help/about shows version 11.08)

Here's what the patch spits out with the /lv switch:

How To Create an Acrobat Pro package for Deployment?

$

We've recently bought Adobe Acrobat Pro 11 and I've been trying to deploy it on our desktop computers.  The first tool I used was the Adobe Customization Wizard. I used the wizard and created an package and input the serial and deployed it only to find out that all users saying that only the trial version of Adobe installed. I quickly logged onto one of the workstations and noticed that I had to input the serial number on all of the workstations, so I quickly ran a silent uninstalled command of Adobe Acrobat Pro on all of the workstations.  I contacted Adobe Support and was told to use the Creative Cloud Packager to create the package.  I downloaded the tool and I created a package to deploy. It created a folder named "AcrobatPro11"  on my computer, in it  there are two other folders "Build" and "Exceptions" and then another file "AcrobatPro11.ccp". At this point I don't see any other files that I can deploy for install of Acrobat except for the 2 files that are inside the "Build" folder which are named "AcrobatPro11.msi" and "setup.exe".  I've tried to deploy both files and neither file installs Acrobat.  I must be doing something wrong.  Can someone help me, how can I create my package for deployment?

Thanks
