Hi, any ideas?
My customer has recently encountered a problem when trying to open most of their pdfs that they have been referencing for years on their pc. Reader has a popup box that says "Adobe Reader could not open 'file.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded
I have tried various programs to recover/restore/repair them, they all say the files aren't PDF files. I have not paid for any recovery programs but would be willing to if they can demonstrate they can fix the problem first.
Hello I purchased Adobe acrobat Distiller DC and I didn't realize it wasn't the program I was looking for. Don't get me wrong Adobe products are awesome. I have Illustrator on my parents computer through them. I just wish to uninstall this program. I will definitely purchase another program after doing more research on it. Adobe has been real good to me but now that i have my own account I don't know how to work it. the contact us button just sends me in circles. HELP ME PLEASE

During my testing of Adobe Acrobat XI with 11.0.10 patch applied, I was getting the shortcuts on the desktop and the Start Menu 100% of the time. I used the Customization Wizard to remove the Forms icon from the desktop and some other security related registry keys. After pushing out to 5000 Windows 7 64-bit machines, half of them are missing their shortcuts on the desktop and start menu. If I run a repair on the machine, they come back. I have not seen any errors in the MSI log files related to shortcut creation.
Having the same problem here. Even if not creating an AIP, and instead doing a standard install of AcroPro.msi and patching with 11.0.10's msp, it'll result in a registration loop that can't be skipped.
Applying an Adobe ID allows for getting through the screen, but obviously, in an enterprise environment, that's not ideal.
This issue was something that I experienced with 11.0.07, and it went away with 11.0.08 and 11.0.09, but seems to have returned with 11.0.10.
Previously, I was able to get around the issue by clearing out some files from the Common Files\Adobe directory, particularly Adobe PCD and SLCache, as well as including the Adobe regids stored in ProgramData, but that fix no longer works with this latest version.
If REGISTRATION_SUPPRESS is set to YES, the result is Acrobat closing and opening in a loop, since it can't get through the registration screen.
I'm currently investigating for a registry key that might possibly applied to circumvent this issue, but I haven't found one yet.
For Adobe Acrobat 8, it used to be stored in the following two places, per Prompted to register repeatedly | Acrobat 8 | Windows
32-bit Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\8.0\AdobeViewer
64-bit Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\8.0\AdobeViewer
However, the registry structure seems to have changed since then.
Hi, I need to transfer my adobe acrobat licence to a new laptop. But I cant see a simple way to do this. can anyone help?
Cheers,
Ryan
I think I found a fix for the issue.
Since you're using the Adobe Customization Wizard, you have access to the direct editor as well.
WIthin the Direct Editor, go to Property, and change the two properties' values.
REGISTRATION_SUPPRESS - YES
Registration - Yes
Besides that, make whatever other changes you want for your standard configurations and generate the transform.
Uninstall the malfunctioning Adobe Acrobat installation, and reinstall using the newly generated transform.
In my testing, it seems to fix the issue with the registration screen loop.
Hello,
Is there a Registry key change or a feature I can turn off that will remove the "Sign In Required" when you launch the Pro DC after install? If so, what is the key or where can I make this change. Or will entering a licences key on install cause this not to appear. Right now I'm waiting for a license key and have been testing this with the trial version for our enterprise.
At first glance after looking at my index settings it would seem that still needs iFilter 64. However I haven't been successful at finding anything on this site that confirms that iFilter 11 works with DC.
Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!
These preferences enable integration with Document Cloud services.
This preference category contains the following subfeature(s):

By default, Adobe online services are tightly integrated with the user interface so that users can leverage them in enterprise workflows. Odd. Do you have a verbose MSI log of one of the machines where the shortcuts do not show up on initial installation? If yes, can you post them for the forum members to examine?
Which OS platform are you using? Also, Adobe Acrobat Distiller is NOT a separate product. It is included with Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe Acrobat Standard but not as a separate purchasable product.
You are using Google Chrome's default PDF plug-in or Mozilla Firefox's default PDF plug-in and not Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader's PDF viewer plug-in. Neither Google Chrome's plug-in nor Mozilla Firefox's PDF plug-in supports PDF Portfolios or XFA based PDF files.
I have disabled all of these and still after I reinstall it, I still get the "Sign In Required". Anything else I can try?
If you are in a Trial then you need to apply a serial number or actually start the Trial but signing in with your Adobe ID.
I don't have one at this time. We are working with our Vendor to get it. So once I get this license key and add it to my msi then I shouldn't be require to sign in?
Hi Steve, Thank you for your reply. I have Adobe Reader XI and Adobe Technical Communication Suite 5 installed. But based on your reply, I found these instructions for enabling the Adobe Acrobat or Reader PDF viewer for Firefox and Chrome. Here is the link: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html
The instructions work, so I am marking this question as resolved.
Hello, We've installed acrobat DC standard and need to disable cloud services. I've tried looking for in the reg but can't find the cServices key on any of the machines.
Thank You
