Reinstall/Update Acrobrat Reader DC

Hello,

I'm a Systems Administrator for a managed environment.  My predecessor deployed Acrobat Reader DC without using the Customization Tool and thus we get prompted for updates and file associations are not correct.  I have downloaded the latest version and used the Customization Wizard to set those items correctly and tested the deployment but it does not revert those settings, it just updates the version.

Is there any way to fully update or reinstall with the new settings?

Thanks!

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC - Crash on launch

DOWNLOADED FILE:  AcroRdrDC1502020039_en_US.exe

OPERATING SYSTEM:  Windows 10 Enterprise (amd64), Windows 8.1 Enterprise (amd64), Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (amd64)

The installer includes both the primary MSI (acroread.msi, version 15.007.20033) as well as an update MSI (acrordrdcupd1502020039.msp, version 15.020.20039), which install without error or issue. However, following the install, any attempt to launch Reader results in an error and prevents Reader from launching. The error text in question is...

Faulting application name: AcroRd32.exe, version 15.7.20033.2203, time stamp: 0x5507d7da

Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x00a77b54

Faulting process id: 0x38c

Faulting application start time: 0x01d254a00b91a4f1

Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\AcroRd32.exe

Faulting module path: unknown

Report Id: 4970351d-c093-11e6-b90c-005056b6541f

If I decompress the aforementioned downloaded EXE and install the aforementioned MSI without updating with the aforementioned MSP, Reader appears to function without error or issue. Decompressed files look like this...

abcpy.ini

AcroRdrDCUpd1502020039.msp

AcroRead.msi

Data1.cab

setup.exe

setup.ini

Please advise.

Thanx.

Re: Reinstall/Update Acrobrat Reader DC

Hi Acjuelich,

Ideally, after installing Reader DC should take the precedence of previous settings.

Unless there are some other customizations set on user profiles. Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs  and then restart the machine. Try installing Reader Dc and let us know if that makes a difference.

Also, let me know the steps you have already taken to resolve this issue?

Acrobat Pro 9

I purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 several years ago for personal, non-business use.  About 2 years ago, i purchased an new multipurpose printer, scanner, fax.  I discarded the previous printer which was installed in Acrobat as the device from which to scan a document.  I cannot delete that old printer or add the new printer in

Acrobat for the purpose of Creating PDF from Scanner.  I have uninstalled Acrobat and reinstalled it, thinking that the new printer/scanner would be installed, but that did not occur.  Is it possible to delete an old printer/scanner and/or add a new printer scanner?

Acrobat and AUSST

We are deploying a large footprint of CC, we have created\deployed the  Adobe Update Server Setup Tool (AUSST) v4 for the CC applications and this works for any of the Applications (photoshop, bridge,dreamweaver..ect), but I can not figure out how to update acrobat pro... Documentation is EXTREAMLY limited (as is typical for adobe) and there is nothing for the Acrobat piece.

Has anyone got this to work for Acrobat Pro on a windows system

Re: Acrobat and AUSST

do you have an enterprise license?

Do you have the Acrobat Enterprise Deployment documentation suite?

Open pdf based on textbox

Hello,  i'm using adobe acrobat pro to create a form.  I want to know if and how i can open a specific pdf file on mouse click based on the value of a textbox.  Text in this textbox can be A, B or C.

On opening the file it should be filling the new file with the data from the file that is open. Is this at all possible in Acrobat Pro?

Re: Setting Adobe DC Reader to Display at 100% size Via Adobe Customization Tool

Hi Riche51950863,

By default, there is no option to change the zoom level using Customization wizard.

Like you mentioned this can be done using and here is the reference: General Application Settings  Let us know if that helps.

How to Update Reader DC Classic Installed From AIP Without Uninstalling and Reinstalling?

We deploy Reader Classic using an AIP and every time we want to apply an update patch, it always fails and we always have to uninstall and manually reinstall.

When I looked up other discussions for people getting error 1642 and other similar errors when applying MSP patches or trying to instal newer versions of Reader over older versions, the solution provided is always "The install must be corrupted. Just uninstall with the removal tool and reinstall" to get around the issue.

This is too much work.

What is the procedure to automate deploying patches to existing systems with Adobe Reader DC Classic without uninstalling and reinstalling each time?

Adobe Registration prompt keeps showing up

Within a Citrix Provisioning Deployment, the Customization Wizard was used to create install and suppressed the Registration prompt.  After some time, the registration prompt is now showing up again.  FeatureLockdown was tried, but realize it isn't supported for Adobe Acrobat XI.  Any ideas on how to correct?

How do I reinstall Adobe Acrobat 9 pro in a new computer that does not have a cd drive?

My previous laptop held the subscriptions for ADOBE Acrobat 9 pro and I now have a new laptop.  I need to move the license from one computer to the next.  How do I complete this task?

Acrobat 9 pro does not asks for license during installation on mac

This is the version that I'm downloading from your LWS page:

Software--> Acrobat Professional9.0Worldwide EnglishMacintoshAcrobat Professional 9.0 MAC ESD WWE

It downloads correctly and I can get the Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro folder in my applications. Per the instructions, I try to launch Adove Acrobat 9 Pro. It tries to installs it and it asks me if i want teh 3D printer options I accept everything and then stalls there and never asks for a license key.

I been trying to get this SW install since last year with no success. What do you recommend iI do?

Adobe Acrobat DC Standard, Sysprep and CCE Serial not surviving....

OK. First off, as a sys admin i'm VERY annoyed w/Adobe these days.  Acrobat DC deployment in our new Windows 10 images has been a complete and utter nightmare with the way adobe tries to do licensing but yet has a full guide on licensing? WTF???  ok, rant aside here is the issue I have had now since day 1 of trying to embed my Acrobat DC Standard (classic, aka 2015) into our windows 10 imaging.

I have created a customized msp file using the Acrobat Customization Wizard.  In it, i have used our CCE serial number and enabled Offline Exception.

I then install said package in my windows 10 images with my default admin user who's profile is then used for all new profiles.  After making all of my changes to the images, i then will sysprep my image and then capture it in .wim form and then deploy via Windows Deployment Services and Server 2012 R2.

Once the image is deployed, we notice after about a few logins or so; acrobat will ask the user to Sign In and at that point is useless since you can't do anything until you sign in.  This should not be breaking since i've enabled offline exception in the msp that we used in the install. i installed acrobat via the setup.exe and /sALL flags.

However, if I deploy my image and have acrobat dc installed via one of my firstlogon unattend commands; the licensing survives.  WHY IS SYSPREP BREAKING LICENSING?

WHY DOES ADOBE MAKE LICENSING SO DANG HARD for us???  Image may be NSFW.

Re: Adobe Acrobat DC Standard, Sysprep and CCE Serial not surviving....

Hi,

Serialization of Acrobat DC via customization wizard is not the recommended way for OS imaging scenarios.

Please try the below steps

1. Generate a prov.xml file on any machine connected to internet using the following APTEE tool command line:

"adobe_prtk --tool=VolumeSerialize --generate --serial=<serialnum> --leid=<LEID of product> --regsuppress=ss --eulasuppress

[--locales=list of locales in xx_XX format or ALL>] [--provfilepath=<Absolute path to prov.xml>]"

2. Customize Acrobat package using customization wizard for all other changes except serialization (do not enter serial and do offline exception in customization wizard).

3. Install the customized Acrobat DC  via setup.exe on the image.

4. Copy the prov.xml file created in step 1 on the image and run following APTEE command

     "adobe_prtk --tool=VolumeSerialize [--provfile=<Absolute path to prov.xml>] --stream"

5. Launch Acrobat for about a minute

6. Now use this image for deployment.

Please revert back in case of any issues

Thanks

Ravi
