This entry "bSuppressSignOut"=dword:00000001 works to suppress the option from Help-->SignIn/SingOut . We want to disable/suppress from the Adobe Reader Windows as shown.

Prevent Reader extension in Chrome from automatically opening helpx.adobe.com

Hello everyone,

I've built a Windows 10 Enterprise v1709 image for my labs and offices and have run into an issue with the Acrobat Reader extension for Google Chrome.  After the extension has been installed, on the next launch of Chrome, a new tab will automatically appear and open the page at https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-reader-chrome-extension.html.  Since this is installed as part of an image, this page is appearing for all new users who log in and launch Chrome.

This is a controlled environment and we require all web browsers to open a company webpage by default for all users.  I've configured this default page on the local installs and through Group Policy using the Chrome .admx templates, but the helpx.adobe.com Tab continues to appear.  I can block the URL in GPO, but the Tab will still open, it just says the page is blocked.

What I would like to do is prevent this new tab from ever opening.  I've searched through the windows registry and file system to try and find where this is coming from but with no luck.  I'm running out of ideas and removing the extension appears to be my only option.  Does anyone know how to prevent this tab from from automatically opening in chrome?

Additionally, I had configured the Reader Extension options in Chrome to disable the option to "Allow Adobe Acrobat for Chrome to send anonymous usage information to Adobe for product improvement purposes".  This is turning itself back on for all new users who log into the system.  How can I permanently disable this for all users?

I tested it on my machine and it works. Export your registry and paste here for verification.

I have one co-worker with XI 11.0.23 and he hasn't had any problems. I spoke with IT about this again and they mentioned that they would look into it because both of us are using the same key. My copy was purchased at a later date so this may be the issue.

Setting Adobe Acrobat DC as default pdf in windows 10 enterprise deployment

I need an alternative way of setting Adobe Acrobat DC as the default app for pdf's in Win10. DISM does not work for our environment and GPO may cause issues since we have have users who do not always boot from domain. I played around with some of the items in Configuration Wizard and nothing seems to work.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

There's no other documented or supported method. I think you need to use DSIM is you want the settings to stick. Moreover, hooks to the PDF handler reside in more than one registry location so hacks are likely to be complicated and unreliable.

I have whitelisted all of the above and I am still unable to get Adobe Acrobat updates to come through Creative Cloud. If I use Creative Cloud to manually uninstall Adobe Acrobat, and reinstall it, I am no on version 18.011.20035, yet I have machines with both Acrobat and Creative Cloud installed, and when you click "Check for App Updates" Creative Cloud reports that Acrobat is "up to date" but it's not - it's still on either 15 or 17 until I manually uninstall/reinstall. What else could be blocking these updates? I have whitelisted all the above items and all of the Adobe Acrobat items found on the help forums.

Please help! I can not uninstall/reinstall manually for 25 end users EVERY TIME there is an Acrobat update, it's insane!!

Additionally - I connected a workstation to our Guest wireless network, which is not behind a firewall and has no restrictions, and I STILL couldn't get this to update!

I seem to recall that Creative Cloud doesn't handle Acrobat updates. Acrobat does. Make sure you haven't deployed the Classic stream rather than the Continuous stream.

Remote Update Manager and Reader continously

Hi,

We are packaging Reader DC. I asked the packager if the package was done in such way Remote Update manager will be able to update it. We confirm the version so it is the continuous version. so its good.

But for now we found nothing saying the RUM was ready. In the Docs, I found creative suite package would include RUM but Nothing for reader. The packager did not find an option in the tuner.

So how may we confirm RUM is ready for Reader DC?

Thanks,

Hi Patriziaavanzi,

Sorry for the delay in response.

I have checked that you have two Adobe Acrobat DC subscription on the same Adobe ID.

You can use only one Acrobat subscription under an Adobe ID.

You need to cancel one of the subscriptions and purchase the new subscription on a different email ID.

Please contact support to get help on this.

Open this link Contact Customer Care and sign-in with your Adobe ID.

Then select Account issues or your product name from the list provided under the first step.

Then select an option in the second step. After that click on "Show my contact option" in the blue box at the bottom.

There you will get an option to contact the team via chat or phone.

Let us know if you need any help.

Regards,

Meenakshi

We are using Continuous Stream - but everything I have read indicates it should be able to update via CC. It is listed there as an App, and when I click "check for updates" it spins and then next to "Acrobat" it just says "up to date". Would they still include this function if CC doesn't handle the updates?

I've actually also used the RemoteUpdateManager.exe via command line - and that also reports my Acrobat as being up to date, even though it still is not on the newest release. I believe ARM is separate from CC, right...?

It's all very confusing. Thanks for the response!
